Safety and Compliance as Standard

Regular service and maintenance is needed to ensure the safety, security and operative efficiency for all door, window and access control products as well as helping you meet your legal compliances.

We help clients meet their legal obligations within two key areas:

  • DDA Compliance
  • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety)

DDA Compliance - We help clients meet their legal obligations in line with Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) regulations to increase footfall and accessibility for all. Our automatic door and window solutions pay attention to disabled access, door widths, vision panels, door entry equipment position and height and door safety.

Automatic Doors & Operating Equipment - BS7036 ‘Safety at powered doors for pedestrian use’ states that powered doors should be maintained regularly at twelve month intervals. It’s the responsibility of the property occupier to ensure that all powered doors are compliant. All our engineers have taken the ADSA competency exam which gives them authorisation to carry out maintenance, repairs and installations of Automatic Doors in compliance with BS7036 (1996).

Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) - It places the onus on the “responsible person” for commercial premises to ensure compliance to the RR(FS)O and undertake any necessary work. We ensure all your fire doors, window controls, escape doors, signage and panic hardware are well maintained and in good working order. Read more about our Fire Prevention Maintenance.

Manual Doors & Operating Equipment - Fire doors with manual door closers should be examined at six month intervals in accordance with BS8214 with particular attention being paid to panic and emergency exit bars, hinges and pivots and door closers.

Fire Panic Devices - Panic exit devices operated by a horizontal bar needs to be installed to meet the compliance of BSEN1125 to ensure a safe fire escape through a doorway or escape route with minimal effort and without prior knowledge of the device.

Health and Safety at Work

We work within the latest health and safety legislation guidelines.

All our engineers carry a copy of the Thomas Health & Safety Policy document, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH Assessment and Manual Handling Assessments in accordance to specific works carried out at your premises.
